Insurance Screening

Optimize Existing Resources for Screening:

For patients eligible for insurance: Direct patients to existing health insurance enrollment vans or centers in the community, or insurance enrollment hotlines, such as the NY State of Health (1-855-355-5777).

For patients not eligible for insurance: Call NYC Immigrant Affairs Hotline at 212-788-7654, from M-F, 9AM-5PM to explore options. Patients can also be directed to FQHCs that offer a sliding fee scale basis, or NYC Care to assess eligibility for health access.

Increase CBOs’ awareness of their ability to become direct enrollers for NYC Care:

Increase health care access at City-run hospitals and clinics for all NYers.
