Tuberculosis Statistics and Epidemiology
Local Tuberculosis Data
Each year, the New York City (NYC) Department of Health and Mental Hygiene Bureau of TB Control (BTBC) develops a comprehensive report detailing surveillance data and summaries of core program activities and highlights from the year prior.
The 2023 Annual Summary shares data including the increase in confirmed TB cases compared to 2022, the number of patients with drug-resistant TB, clinical characteristics of NYC patients, and NYC genotyping information.

Global Tuberculosis Data
The World Health Organization (WHO) Global Tuberculosis Programme leads and guides the global effort to end the TB epidemic through universal access to people-centered prevention and care, multisectoral action, and innovation.

The WHO publishes a global TB report every year (since 1997) that provides a comprehensive and up-to-date assessment of the TB epidemic, and of progress in prevention, diagnosis and treatment of the disease, at global, regional and country levels.

The team provides strategy and standards for TB prevention and care; shapes TB research and innovation; and monitors, evaluates, and reports on the status of the TB epidemic and progress in financing and implementing the End TB Strategy at global, regional, and country levels.
