July 2021 Coalition Meeting 

Meeting Highlights â€‹â€‹

  • 35 partners attended our virtual Coalition meeting held on July 23, 2021.

​

  • Annette Gaudino, from Treatment Action Group, presented on TB Advocacy during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Specifically, she discussed the State of the Local, State, and Federal Budget with potential implications for TB. Slides are available HERE.

  • The TB Coalition is putting together a subcommittee to further discuss and outline the challenges that TB programs, TB providers, and TB patients faced and continue to face during the COVID-19 pandemic to help ensure the necessary resources to continue and expand our efforts.   • Kate O’Brien and Tenzin Kunor from We are TB, presented on Improving Support for TB Patients and Survivors.

  • We are TB have a virtual patient support group on Monday evenings. More information about the support group is available HERE. You can find more information about We are TB HERE. Please share information about this great organization widely.

  • We are TB had some exciting news to share! They received a grant from Stony Wold-Herbert Fund to coordinate support groups for patients who speak a language other than English. We discussed the possibility of Spanish and Mandarin. We are TB would love your help developing these focus groups to ensure that they are geographically, culturally, and linguistically appropriate. The Coalition for a TB-Free NYC aims to prevent and eliminate TB in NYC through community engagement, public-private partnership, and innovation & research.
The Coalition unites various stakeholders across traditional and non-traditional industries, disciplines, and care levels to develop, implement, and evaluate a strategic plan to eliminate TB in NYC. The Coalition’s work will be guided by a human rights-, social justice- and patient-centered approach.
